Card payments by phone or online, e-checks, and portal Quick Pay carry a fee of $1.75 or 2.5% of the total payment amount. Autopay from a checking account has no fee.
Since September 2026, IRUA uses cycle billing. Bills are due on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Friday of the month, depending on your property’s cycle. Your statement shows your due date and cycle number.
A monthly minimum charge applies to every meter in service, even when usage is zero.
Meters are read remotely by radio each month. Since the July 2024 billing cycle, usage has been billed per gallon instead of per 1,000 gallons.
IRUA’s Board of Directors sets rates with the concurrence of the Association’s lenders, USDA Rural Development and CoBank.
Yes. The customer portal lets you link multiple properties, view billing and usage history, and save your payment information.
Yes. E-statements arrive five days sooner than paper bills. Sign up in the customer portal, or email info@irua.net with your account number from the address that should receive them.
You’ll need your 5-digit account number and the phone number on your account. If your bill shows a 4-digit account number, add a 0 to the front.
Property owners can complete the Start or Transfer Service Form. Please also notify IRUA of the sale or purchase by phone or email so billing can be transferred. Visit Start Service for step-by-step help.
Renters complete a questionnaire, then let IRUA know about the move-in by phone or email. Every account where a tenant is billed also needs a Landlord/Tenant Billing Agreement signed by the landlord.
Only property owners can be members. The member is responsible for any unpaid renter bills.
Contact IRUA before any rental change or property sale so your final reading and bill are accurate. You can report a move by email. See Stop Service for details.
Call IRUA’s New Services department at 800-400-6066 for a quote. A new connection requires an application, a connection fee, and a permanent easement, and each residence needs its own meter. Short-side or long-side installations typically take 3–6 weeks, and line extensions 10–15 weeks.
Meter pits are set about 10 feet inside the property line. The owner installs and maintains the service line from the pit to the home.
Yes. Call the office at least 48 hours ahead to schedule. A technician turns water off and on at the meter pit for a $35.00 fee. Minimum charges still apply while service is off.
No. Autopay from a checking account is free.
Enroll in the customer portal, through the online AutoPay enrollment form, or by returning a printed form by email or mail. Visit Enroll in Autopay to get started.
Payment is withdrawn on your due date or the next business day. Submit your form well before the due date. If it arrives too close to the due date, autopay starts with the following cycle, so make a manual payment for that month. If your balance is $0, no withdrawal is made.
An existing balance isn’t drawn until the next calendar month’s cycle and may accrue late fees, so we recommend paying it manually.
Customers who started service after August 1, 2024, need to enroll in automatic ACH withdrawal or recurring or draft card payments.

Most customers don’t. IRUA delivers treated, softened water.
Flushing the lines after a repair may leave your water briefly cloudy. This is normal.

Anything past the meter pit is the owner’s to repair. IRUA sends an automated notice when your meter shows continuous flow, but can’t repair private lines or check for leaks.
Typical pressure on IRUA’s system is 30–70 PSI.
